“Wait on the Lord…”
“I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope. I wait for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning.”
Psalms 130:5-6
A watchman’s job was to stand as a guard all day and night to secure the walls of the city. It was their job to watch for any sign of an invading army and protect their city. It was very easy for an army to sneak in and attack so they must be very alert and ready. But imagine the watchman that had this job very late at night ... in the very dark... maybe extremely tired from keeping his eyes open desiring for the sun to rise to be relieved from his shift. Despite what he must’ve felt, he kept waiting expectantly for the sun to rise! He doesn’t stop watching and waiting.
How much more should we have this kind of attitude with God! Waiting on Him with expectancy but with security knowing He is coming through for us like the rising of the sun!
Eager to hear him speak to us. Ready to receive His instruction with an open heart. Not giving up until we see Him in our situation, until we hear His confirmation, until we feel His peace to move forward.
How have you been waiting on God?
Isaiah says that waiting on God isn’t passive... it’s actively working our faith: “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
(Isaiah 40:31 KJV )
As you wait, keep praying. As you wait, keep moving to what He already told you to do.
Until God opens the door, Keep praising HIM in the hallway.
At the very end, God will show you that you’re not waiting for an outcome anymore... instead you have learned to wait (truly depend) on Him. He’s already your answer
