“I live to please ONE…”
Galatians 1:10- “Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ”
“Your Purpose in this world is not to make other people like you.”
I came across this quote, it blew my mind because sometimes we have worried too much about what people think of us or what others say about us that we start to believe the lies, think less of ourselves and start to lose focus on what God thinks about us! His thoughts about us are higher and true.
The problem is when we think more of what people think of us vs what God thinks for us, we try to win the approval of others to fit in, to feel accepted and will do whatever it takes to be a part of something. When in reality, God wants to do something so much greater than that. Many times you have to not fit in with the world to fit exactly in His plans.
It’s said that 25 percent of the people we meet will never like us, regardless of what we do.
I use to think that was discouraging and it was hard for me to accept. I know exactly what it feels like to not be liked just because you are different. But God showed me another way- live to please Him, the audience of one.
Then I realized that was nothing compared to the 75 percent that genuinely like and love me and show me that love personally.
That should be encouraging for you too. Know that Greater is He who is with you than he who is in the world! God desires you. He likes you and loves you all at the same time.
That’s why we live to please Him because He has loved us like no one has!
That is why you should never allow social media, someone’s validation or anyone else to determine your worth and affect your self-esteem. God has called you for a purpose whether people like you or don’t like that fact.
Remember Joseph in the Bible? He had the favor of God in everything he did because he lived to please the audience of one- GOD
